Week 3: A Slower Week, yet Inspiration Keeps Flowing.

Hey everyone! It’s been a hectic week as my exams started on October 5th and will go on until the 18th. Needless to say, my fashion journey has taken a bit of a backseat—around a 70% drop in activity (yikes). But, on the flip side, it’s been my go-to for breaks and unwinding, so I’ve still managed to squeeze in some creative time.
Most of my days have been dedicated to studying and, of course, planning the ultimate post-exam party (trust me, it's going to be legendary). But amidst all the chaos, I’ve been learning new things here and there. For the last three days, I’ve focused on some interesting tidbits about what makes a brand luxurious. Here’s a breakdown of the key factors and common myths:
Luxury fashion isn't just about the product—it's the whole experience. Brands focus on craftsmanship, using skilled artisans and premium materials to elevate products into art forms. Exclusivity and scarcity play a big role too; luxury brands limit production to make items feel rare and desirable. And then, there’s the brand story and heritage—narratives that build emotional connections and make you feel part of something special. Finally, there's the exceptional customer experience, which makes the process of purchasing almost as valuable as the product itself.
As for myths, high prices don’t always mean ethical practices or premium materials. Some brands rely heavily on marketing without delivering the quality you'd expect. Also, not every luxury item is timeless—some collections are trendy and lose value quickly.
I also dedicated a good chunk of time this week to studying human anatomy, building on what I had started last week. My focus shifted to mastering the finer details of the face—starting with the eyes and ears, and gradually moving towards drawing a complete face. It’s been fascinating trying to capture the subtle expressions and nuances in each feature. Below are some of my practice sketches, where you can see my progress, especially in shaping the eyes, one of the most expressive parts of the face:

Right now, as I’m writing this at 3pm, I’m mentally gearing up for my next exam tomorrow. After some solid study sessions, I plan to take a break and dive into learning about Rick Owens—who, as I just discovered, is one of the best pattern makers in the game. Definitely excited to dig into his work!
Now, for the big reveal I teased last week. My inspiration for my capsule collection is drum roll—water. More specifically, fluidity. There’s something about the effortless movement and adaptability of water that I find fascinating, and that’s going to be the backbone of my designs. As for my mood board journey? Well, I hate to break it to you, but I didn’t get as much done as I hoped. Thanks to exams, I had to put it on hold, so the mood board reveal is getting pushed back by a week or two. I promise it’ll be worth the wait though, so stick with me!
That’s all for now—time to hit the books and maybe sneak in a little fashion inspiration in between. Talk to you all soon, and wish me luck on the exams!
